Day 2: Hindås to Sunne, 30 June 2026
Nigel Lee and Richard Turner, 1959 Austin Healey 3000 Mk I
Manuel and Irene Dubs, 1940 Ford Coupe
Tony and Rachel Sheach, 1964 Volvo 122S
from Erik Carlsson and Gunnar Palm in a Saab 96. At the
nearby Time Control in the Saab Museum in Trollhättan,
stablemates of this magnificent machine were on display.
The crews wandered the aisles with a coffee and a cupcake
to set them up for the next challenge, which loomed large
in their roadbooks as the ghosts of the Trolls faded in their
rearview mirrors.
The rallycross Test at Hedeängsbanan picked up where
we9d left off last night, with an exciting, and often tricky,
lap of this very useful facility. Loose corners, short forest
sections, and some tarmac slalom action gave us some
excellent mid-morning sport. Then it was a change of gear
as we struke out to a Route Check in V Bleken and the
Brudfjällsvägen Regularity. This was held over a section
that is sometimes called 8Sweden9s curviest road9.
Trollhättan9s cupcakes were a long way behind us now
and, shortly after we9d finished with this meandering
segment, we were served a fantastic lunch of fresh salad,
traditional meatballs, locally caught salmon, and homemade meatloaf at the Time Control in the Edsleskogs
Wärdshus on a sun-soaked lakeside terrace.
This fine establishment is run by Hanneke and Johan
Postma, car enthusiasts and keen followers of RtG rallies.
They emailed us last year to specifically request we visit
them. We were very pleased we took them up on the offer
and thank them heartily for their efforts.
The afternoon began with a regularity around Summeln
and proceeded to a charming Time Control in an old mill
in Borgvik, on the shores of Lake Vänern (the third largest
lake in Europe). Finishing off with another Regularity
through the forest of Rinnen which took us to the night
halt in Sunne, former home town of football manager SvenGöran Eriksson and the acclaimed writer Selma Lagerlöf,
who gives her name to our hotel, the Selma Spa.
