Day 11: Balestrand to Geilo, 9 July 2026
Heading out from Bølhovd and Reineskarvet respectively,
we heading into another high-altitude 1,000m plateau thick
with hytte, the holiday home of choice for the discerning
Norwegian. It was hot, it was dusty, and just as we started
the Rally in a heatwave, it was looking like we’d finish in
one, as the mercury rose to 28°C on the descent towards
the lakeside Time Control in the Flævasshytta in Flævatn.
The Hallingdal map-based Regularity brought the
curtain down on another day of high drama and, fittingly,
took in a variety of roads. Gravel and tarmac, narrow
and wide, it looped around the northern slopes of the
Hallingdal valley. From the final timing point, it was a
short drive to the ski town of Geilo and our night halt in
the Vestlia Resort.
