Day 7
Åre to Trondheim, Norway (347km)
Manuel and Irene Dubs, 1940 Ford Coupe
5 July 2026
Sally Linton and Ed Stansfield, 1964 Triumph TR4
We went to bed last night with a clear sky and
glimpses of snow on the faraway hills, but woke
to a cold, wet, soggy Sunday, with a blanket of
thick cloud and heavy rain swirling around the car
park. However, as the old cliché goes, the weather
did nothing to dampen our spirits, on the eve of
the eagerly anticipated rest day and Tony Sheach’s
birthday.
Oli and Sabine Stastny, 1960 Volvo PV544
We left Sweden again today. After only 70km crossing the
border at Sandvika and entered Norway, the birthplace of
skiing, and the land of Tunnels and Trolls. Other than a
short section of gravel at the Passage Control at Inna, the
first part of the day was run on tarmac. We soon arrived
at the Time Control in Stiklestad for warm drinks and a
history lesson in the cultural centre. Its centrepiece was
the story and heritage of the Viking King Olaf, latterly
Saint Olaf, after Norway transitioned from paganism to
Christianity. An appropriately timed peal of bells sounded
whilst we parked our cars.
