Day 7: Åre to Trondheim, 5 July 2026
Martin and Frances Dippie, 1929 Bentley 6½ Litre
Roy Stephenson and Ian Milne, 1968 Morris 1800S
A Route Check at Leksdalsvatnet preceded two
Regularities. The first around Ogndal, remarkable for being
the most northerly point of the rally, having reached the
halfway point yesterday. The Heggstad Regularity had no
such distinguishing features, just a good, old-fashioned
map-reading exercise. The reward was lunch at the turftopped Øyna Kulturlandskapshotell, a lofty cabin which
served up a fantastic smörgåsbord overlooking the upper
reaches of the Trondheimsfjorden.
Sally Linton and Ed Stansfield’s Triumph had split its
engine mounts duing the morning so, in between courses,
the crew busied themselves beneath the bonnet, along with
Peter Banham and Andy Inskip, always keen to lend a hand.
Two gravel Regularities, one from Levangselva, the other
around Bulandsvatnet, gave us our first taste of Norwegian
Bomvei - private local toll roads. Then it was the road to Hell
and a two-lap Test at Lånkebanen before we checked into
the MTC in the newly built clubhouse.
With this last pitstop out of the way, we were free to make
our way to Trondheim, where we were to enjoy our rest day.
The city is the third most populous conurbation in Norway
and the country’s historic capital until 1217.
