Day 1: Yorkshire Dales, 28 March 2025

breeze keeping the clouds moving. As we charged towards
a Passage Control at Beamsley Beacon, 390m above sea
level, clumps of well-rooted daffodils clung to the verges.
For the novice crew members this was a short, but intense,
session. The Time Control at Bolton Abbey offered the
opportunity to rest and recover before climbing over Pock
Stones Moor towards the next Test at the Pateley Bridge
Showfield. Here they got to grips with another selection of
cones, chicanes and the ever popular “stop astride”.
Narrow roads and dry-stone walls led us through a
patchwork of fields to the Dacre Pasture Regularity,
immediately followed by a map-based Passage Control
section around Birstwith and the Nidd Valley.
The day ended with a short run into Harrogate and the
Majestic Hotel where a good dinner and a well-stocked bar
finished off a very enjoyable day.
