Border crossing days require an early start and, within one hour of sunrise, the rally began checking out of
the Hacienda del Sol and making its way to Mexico. This was no western-style break for the border though,
there were two Tests along the way for the crews to get stuck into, as well as a lunch break in a settlement
called why. we also passed ‘The Boneyard’, a huge storage facility for mothballed military aircraft and
there can’t have been mechanic amongst us who didn’t want to get in there to see what was salvageable.
