it’s also home to many Buddhist temples, including the
14th-century Wat Phra singh and the 15th-century Wat
Chedi luang adorned with carved serpents, intricate
artworks and impressive golden statues. sightseeing is an
important part of a rest day, but the cars have to come
first. along with some of the crews, the sweeps hit the
breakfast buffet bright and early ready for their half-day
shift of running repairs in the heat and gloom of the
underground car park.
enrico Paggi and Federica mascetti’s Fiat had an
oil leak. Charlie neale removed the sump guard
so that some of the best eyes in the business
could train their inspection lights towards the
big lump looking for drips. manuel dubs was
also in the lubrication game and was up early
changing his transmission fluid in the
hope this would make
the noisy differential
a little quieter. the

We’re hunkered down in Chiang mai today for our
third rest day. Founded in 1296, Chiang mai was
the capital of the lanna Kingdom until 1558 and
the old City, an important cultural and religious
centre, is still bordered by moats and walls.
