three quick-fire tests this morning got the rally
off to a flying start before striking north towards
vang vieng on the nam song river surrounded by
limestone rock formations and caves.

laos is a small country that’s big on temples, so it was
fitting that the first test was held in the shadow of the
impressive Pha that luang temple, where the breastbone
of the Buddha is said to lie. against a backdrop of ancient
golden domes and slightly less ancient tourist coaches,
John and gill Cotton timed the cars in and out of a
demanding slalom circuit.
next up was the driving school test where the crews
brushed up on their manoeuvring skills. they were scored by
Jim smith, sarah ormerod, loren Price and Fred gallagher,
with the latter marshal feeling that the section should have
been called just a minute, due to its brevity, and the need to
avoid any hesitation, repetition or deviation!
