Day 24 Hà Giang to Lạng Sơn (378km)
only minutes after dawn broke our very own
Phoenix night came to an end, as we set a course for
lạng sơn taking us out of the mountains via a test
and two regularities.
after only 35km of an always twisty, and sometimes misty,
morning we came to the first test. locked down with
warning tape and swept free of scooters, the Ql34 got the
day off to a flying start and gave us the chance to fully
explore our limits on these fantastic roads. the organisers

were grateful for the Police cooperation ensuring that once
a minute the climb through the clouds could be enjoyed
to its fullest and the locals who turned out to watch, were
kept well away from harm’s way.
With forearms tensed, sweat on their brows and on
opposite lock, the drivers wrestled their cars from apex to
apex defying both gravity and the alternating centrifugal
force assailing them and their car. With only one road to
take, the navigators assumed the role of shifting ballast
and had no choice but to maintain a vice-like grip on their
notes and roadbooks. 47km further along the road through
