Day 27 Hạ Long Bay and Hà NộI (173km)
after a night swinging silently at anchor, this
morning the chugging of the local fishing boats
woke us up at first light. the anchor was weighed,
breakfast served and a pair of tenders ferried us
ashore. reunited with our cars, an easy drive and
two tests were all that stood in the way of the finish
of the Road to Hanoi Marathon.

the hà nội Formula 1 circuit was today’s playground with
two laps of a damp track providing plenty of opportunity
to push through the talent/ambition paradigm. every
available RtG marshal was either on cone watch or manning
a stopwatch. tony rowe and mark delling kept a cone as a
souvenir and stashed it below their sump thinking they’d
get it safely to the finish before anyone noticed. however,
the infraction was noticed and a penalty duly applied.
