With his eye on the tide tables, rather than the
speed tables, Clerk of the Course, Mark Appleton,
mustered the crews for an early morning crossing
of the Tsugaru Straits to Oma, the most northerly
point of Honshu.
Embarkation was a cinch, thanks to the efforts of our
incomparable Into Japan agents, Naomi Minamoto and Sally
Gardner, who had done an impressive job pre-filling the
paperwork. We just had to roll up to the Passage Control
at the port, have our time cards stamped, and collect the
tickets for pre-allocated seating.
