Kitchen opened out a little and, on some fantastic tarmac,
the rally made good time towards a delicious serving
of burger, chips and ice cream. The afternoon had two
Regularities with the first, Human Rights & Lefts, coming
within 9km of the dessert course and involved an uphill
gallop across a wet escarpment lined with bamboo and the
ubiquitous sugi cedar trees.
Another Time Control at the Roadside Station of Silk
brought us all together again before the final Regularity of
the day up the Ouchi Pass. At around 300m high, no one was
breathless at the summit, but there was an easy shortcut
into Miyazu and the night halt at the Mercure Hotel. We are
overlooking Wakasa Bay and the Amanohashidate or the
“Bridge to Heaven” which is said to be one of Japan’s three
most beautiful sights.
