presented itself, a glance at the beautiful scenery was well
worthwhile, with the route taking in farmland and ancient
villages punctuated by dozens of staddle stone mounted
hórreos and lichen-encrusted churches.
Whilst it had been a shorter day, it had also been intense,
and the sight of the night halt was welcome. Particularly for
Richard and Catherine Phillipson, whose Alvis screeched
into the MTC with two minutes to spare after picking up a
puncture shortly after leaving the Regularity.
Sadly, Eugene Larkin and Yvonne Gavin’s BMW 327/28
wasn’t so fortunate and is retiring this evening, thanks to
a blown differential; the disappointed crew are looking at
renting a car to drive the rest of the route with us.
With the cars parked up and spanner checked, the bar
filled up, after which the crews were free to explore the
culinary delights of Santiago de Compostela.
