it had been a tough half day for some, but an enjoyable
one for all and now they were on the home straight. Within
a few miles Slaley’s driveway took the rally into a wellstocked bar and a generously provisioned dining room.
Here the crews could compare notes and reflect on what
could well have been their first experience of motoring
against the clock.
Finally, we need to report that it’s Mike Thompson’s
birthday today so, as well as wishing him many happy
returns, we hope that his son Josh gifts him a trouble-free
run through to Sunday.
