Day 2
Northumbrian Moorlands and Coast (168 miles) 25 March 2023
After yesterday’s appetiser, today gave the crews
something more substantial to get their teeth
into, with a generous slice of Northumbrian
coasts and castles along with three Tests and five
Regularities. A further three Route Checks and
three Passage Controls were thrown in for good
measure, which went a long way to keep the gang
together throughout the day.
Looking through the road book the crews could see that it
was going to be a busy day for sure but, with the fantastic
route and the relaxed schedule, the old adage that time
flies when you’re having fun was, by the end of the day,
proved to be correct.
Slaley Hall got the honour of hosting the first Test of the
day with the crews being teed up for a quick drive across
the golf course with the navigators trying their best to keep
the cars well out of the rough.
