From the hotel, an easy tarmac section led to a Route
Check at Prospect Hill, and the first Regularity through
Barrasford Park. Here the navigators had to plot the shortest
route through a long section, ensuring they arrived at the
next control at the right time via another Passage Control
at Monkridge Bridge.
it was good to see Mike and Lorna Harrison here reprising
their role of poacher turned gamekeeper. They stood with
their clipboards and stop watches checking the crews as
part of the mammoth marshalling effort the organisers had
put together to keep the show on the road.
impressive landscapes, rolling hills and a leaden grey sky
gave the morning an epic flavour. The traffic free, single
track roads, lined with clumps of vivid yellow daffodils
spurred everyone on to the next Regularity through the
Aln Valley, a Route Check at Newtown Mill and, finally, a
Lee and Freya Clarke, 1962 Triumph TR4
