Mickey Gabbett. Irish Racing Green Director
“My forte is that I’ve been able to find the lovely venues
we’ve visited because they’re all my friends but having RtG
on board has taken huge weight off the shoulders of the
Irish Racing Green team.
Whilst they’ve brought the next level of organisation to
the event we’re delighted that they want to honour our
spirit and the spirit of the event. They’ve used our original
Irish marshals for example who’ve done such a great job
for us in the past and they’re an essential part of this rally.
I was lucky enough to be one of the competitors and I
felt that the event ran really smoothly.”
Michael Jackson. Irish Racing Green Director
“Well needless to say it’s been a bit like looking after a baby
and then giving it up for adoption. We created this event ...
we gave birth to it and we nurtured it for its first few years
so to hand it over to someone else was a bit daunting. So
yes, we were nervous but now that the event is over we
can see that it was the right thing to do. We’re absolutely
delighted with the way the event has played out and now,
I think that it feels more like a marriage rather than an
adoption. We’re very pleased with the partnership. Going
forwards... I think that it’s been so good this year that we
think there’s very little we’d change beyond a little bit of
tweaking. We want to keep the flavour of the Shamrock
because it is a little bit unique and we’re very pleased that
Rally the Globe have appreciated this and I think that we’re
all singing from the same hymn sheet so it’s looking good.”
Shane Houlihan. Irish Racing Green Director
“We’re very pleased, we think that RtG did a fantastic
job. The event ran very satisfactorily and by all accounts
everyone has had a ball.
There were some really interesting and challenging
roads but unfortunately I was needed to drive the course
car this year. However, next year, I’m sure I’ll be back with
a number on my door!”

Graham Goodwin. Rally the Globe Chairman
“This is our 2nd Shamrock event as competitors but it’s
the first as part of the organising team and I think that the
new relationship has gone really well.
We were delighted to be asked to be involved as Mickey,
Michael and Shane have produced an amazing event over
the last few years and, as vintage car enthusiasts we feel
that it’s really important to keep it going. We hope that
we’ve done exactly what the Irish Racing Green team have
asked us to do and look forward to future collaborations.
Ireland is an amazing country to rally in, the roads are
great and the people are fantastic - unfortunately they’re
really good at rugby... but we like them anyway!”

Fred Gallagher. Rally the Globe Rally Director
“Last time I competed on this event I loved it but never
dreamed that I’d be coming back as the Rally Director and
a part of the organising team. The Shamrock concept is
unique, it’s a lot of fun and it’s an absolute pleasure to be
here again and I’m really looking forward to getting on with
the planning of the next one.”
Mark Appleton. Clerk of the Course
“We’ve had a wonderful few days here in Wexford and
Waterford. Picking up on the style and the character of
previous Shamrock events was always a priority for those
of us who have enjoyed the event so much previously, and
I think that the IRG / RtG partnership has nailed it. To
be able to count on the input and support from the guys
on the ground in Ireland has been critical in the lead up
to the event, and of course to have so many enthusiastic
and experienced marshals has enabled us to keep the
competition at just the right level of intensity – settling on
the fun side of challenging.
The welcome we’ve had around the route this year has been
amazing and I’m sure will continue into the future. The
planning for next year’s event is already well under way
when we’ll be heading further north than the Shamrock has
ever been before – more details will be coming soon…”
