the navigators to stay focused on the notes and clocks, as
the road alternately rose and fell through mature woodland,
open farmland and ancient stone bridges.
Another Passage Control at Ballyvooney Bridge showed
the rally it was still on the right road and, by mid-morning,
it was ready for some refreshment at the perfectly timed
and very well situated Whelan’s Bar Time Control in the
town of Stradbally. The marshalling roster had been kind
to Gill and John Cotton today and in this very welcoming

Whilst yesterday’s half-day packed a lot into the schedule,
today’s was positively bursting at the seams. Five
Regularities and two Tests were expertly wrapped around
some great scenery and superb hospitality. From the gates
of Faithlegg it was a short drive to the first timed section,
with the crews enjoying some tantalising views of the sea
around this Regularity from Woodstown. It gave us a strong
hint of what was to come later in the morning.
Along with the sea views there were plenty of bucolic
pastures to enjoy on the way to a Passage Control at
Ballyscanlon Lough and on to the second Regularity around
